Course Overview

Quiet Expert is an expert system used to rapidly evaluate PCB designs and design issues that can lead to electromagnetic interference (EMI).   Using design rule checks (DRCs) and algorithms developed by the University of Missouri at Rolla (UMR), Quiet Expert is able to identify EMI issues related to board stackup, device technologies, routing and crosstalk. You can become proficient in the use and control of Quiet Expert by attending the Education Services “Quiet Expert for Detecting PCB EMI Problems.”   It will teach you to efficiently use Quiet Expert software in your high-speed PCB design flow and empower you to evaluate and recommend changes to your PCB routing in order to avoid EMI in your designs. The lecture modules will guide you through the various concepts related to this innovative approach to EMI reduction and specific aspects of the Quiet Expert toolset.

Hands-on lab exercises will reinforce lecture topics and provide you with extensive tool usage experience under the guidance of our industry expert instructors.

You will learn how to

  • Use Quiet Expert to evaluate printed circuit board designs and prevent EMI issues
  • Create models to be used by Quiet Expert
  • Convert PCB data into a database that Quiet Expert uses
  • Use QEBoardView to identify layout issues that will cause EMI
