Course Part Number: 229115
Description
This advanced one-day class illustrates methods for structuring your Calibre rule file according to conventional methodology so that the code is more organized, readable, and easier to maintain. The workshop also gives examples of efficient coding of common DRC operations so that Calibre gives the best performance possible.
Detailed lab exercises help reinforce what is discussed during the lectures and provide you with extensive tool usage experience under the guidance of our industry expert instructors.
Please note: This class is not for beginners. The materials assume a substantial understanding of Calibre DRC and rule decks.
You will learn how to
- Identify the different methods used to optimize a rule file
- Use generally accepted rule file structure
- Use DRC optimization techniques, including:
-
- Maximizing capacity
- Identifying operation execution time
- Leveraging hierarchical efficiency
- Using concurrency and redundancy
- Understanding layer operation scheduling
- Writing efficient large constraint checks
- Using alternative approaches
- Employing unique calibre secondary keywords
- Helping Calibre develop good hierarchy
- Avoiding destroying hierarchy
- Use Specific Calibre DRC Check Hints for:
-
- EXTERNAL
- Contacts and Vias
- Metal (Slot)
- Density
- Antenna
- Pads
Hands-On Labs
Throughout this course, extensive hands-on lab exercises provide you with practical experience using the Calibre DRC log to help you maximize efficiency and reduce runtime. Hands-on lab topics include:
- Identifying and improving rule file structure problems
- Comparison of unoptimized and optimized operations in the log file
- Techniques for doing your own optimization analysis
- Use of the Log Analyzer macro with Calibre DESIGNrev to help with log analysis
- Exporting log statistical information to a spreadsheet format for further external mathematical analysis
Audience
Design and CAD Engineers who will be in charge of major Calibre rule file construction, maintenance, and efficiency improvements. This course is NOT for beginners or general Calibre users.
